Figured they could do better than a guy who went 16-20 in three seasons at a Sun Belt school.

Just floating this out there to see how quickly it would get shut down:

Steve Mariucci for the Wisconsin job?

He is the only former NFL head coach I could envision with a remote shot.

It will be very, very surprising if it's not Mark Helfrich, the Offensive Coordinator.

You forget Western just became an FBS school in 2008. And he's won 14 of those games in the last two seasons.

Where would Kelly be a lock for an NFL job?

Word floating around the Internet (I know, I know) is that Arkansas State and Bobby Petrino are talking.

You forgot he's on the wrong side of Mark's color line.

I can't find it now but there was a report earlier that part of Taggert's deal stipulates that USF has to play Western at some point in the next couple of years.

The one I've heard over and over is Philly. There have been reports that he interviewed already, but I'm not sure how accurate that is.

I don't know that he's a lock for any specific job, but Scheffter isn't the only one saying Kelly will definitely be an NFL coach next season.

Well, Tennessee DID hire the first black head basketball coach in the history of the SEC a quarter-century ago. He was an utter disaster (5-22 final season), with his son the only redeeming part of this nightmare.

Given that the school had the first black QB and the first black basketball coach, it doesn't make any sense to think color would ever be an issue for a football coach.
