Purdue possibly but Indiana appears to be turning a corner. Beckman will get at least another year at Illinois.

I think Purdue is likely to make a change, with maybe Notre Dame assistant Bobby Diaco a candidate. With Iowa and Purdue still to come, Indiana has a good shot at 5-7. I think Wilson definitely keeps his job with that finish.

Assuming we're not talking about just the Big 6 conferences, that boob from Wyoming's gotta be a goner ...

I'd be surprised if Ferentz got dumped but if he does Diaco will be high on their list - if not at the top. He's an alum.

Of course, I also remember hearing a few years ago how the "Gruden to Notre Dame" thing had legs because he was a catholic kid who grew up in South Bend, Indiana, as a die hard ND fan with a dad an on the ND staff. Hey, with connections like that, how could the rumors be wrong?

Of course they turned out to be bullshit.

Jon Gruden has a hometown connection to the University of Tennessee, Notre Dame, Ohio State, the San Francisco 49ers, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the University of Florida, the Philadelphia Eagles, and probably a dozen other teams. And he has mined every one to get a big fat raise from his employer at the time.

But he's on my TV, so that means he'd be the bestest coach ever!

I cannot help but notice that his old connection to the Indiana Hoosiers is not listed here.

They don't provide enough leverage at renegotiation time.

Ferentz's buyout is a bitch. It calls for 75 percent of the remaining salary on his contract. Which right now is about 20 million dollars.

He knew that no matter what he did, Boston College wasn't climbing up the pecking order in the city. The Globe and the Herald weren't going out of their way to centerpiece the goings-on in Chestnut Hill, even in the case of turning BC into a top-notch program.

So he went to Raleigh. While there's little question that his pay was increased, the program will get coverage and plenty of people will care. Not at an ACC basketball-level fever pitch, but that's asking entirely too much.

Tim Murphy should never leave Harvard. He's been there for almost 20 years now, IIRC holds the mark for most victories there and has turned the program into a power within the league. I'm sure he also does OK moneywise, so any move to BC for not that huge of an increase and a disproportionate increase in headache level isn't worth it.
