Tennessee lost the opportunity to scream "tradition" when they started incorporating black into the uniforms in the mid-90s. Didn't they have a "black out" game recently?

They put black in so you could see the damn numbers from the press box. Orange on white (or white on orange) doesn't exactly pop for the radio/TV spotters.

Ex-UNLV coach/USC coordinator Mike Sanford hired at Indiana State, which seems to have come back from the dead to be at least a competitive FCS program.

Scott Satterfield hired at App State, replacing a legend.

And I think Skip Holtz to La Tech has already been mentioned.

One off, on Halloween night, brought to you by Lane Kiffin.

You'll never be offended by black UT jerseys again.

It would stand out better if they did an orange or black pinstripe on each side of the checkerboard. And the black number outline on the road jerseys was absolutely needed for legibility.

That said, I still hope the rat bastards lose every game.

I still say Alvarez winds up coaching the Badgers next season...

He said he thought about it, but won't be coaching next year:

I believe him... I just think that the guy he wants probably isn't available now and might be a year from now...

Until he hires someone else or until someone emerges as the clear favorite to get the job, I'm going to be convinced that he'll coach the Badgers next season.

Speculation is that Mel Tucker is the leader in the clubhouse: http://btn.com/2012/12/16/wisconsin-interviews-badgers-product-mel-tucker/

My question is this - he obviously wanted Paul Chryst but then decided to "do the right thing".

Now he has turned the coaching search into a joke, not quite like Nebraska's when Bill Callahan was hired but heading in that direction.

Doesn't he have an obligation to Wisconsin to hire the right guy and if Chryst is that guy, isn't it a little bit silly that he would rather go through a ridiculous process and make a bad hire than just hire the guy and tell Pitt "hey, I respect you a lot and really hate to do this but this is what we have to do for our program."

You are assuming 1, that Cryst wants the job; 2, that Cryst trusts Alvarez to be his boss, 3, that Cryst wants to uproot his family yet again.

Chryst's daughter has signed an LOI to play volleyball at Pitt (she is living with friends and finishing high school in Madison, at Edgewood or whatever that fancy school in West Madison is called). The rest of the family is settled in Pittsburgh, and is looks as though he's made a pretty good start on rebuilding what has been a national power. Maybe they want to stay there.
