2013 College Football coaching carousel

The smartest coaches in college football are the ones who realize they have a good thing and don't leave... I always laugh when Bob Stoops name comes up for other college jobs and now seeing Kelly's name mentioned for openings does the same thing. They would have to be insane to leave for another college job...

Ferentz isn't getting fired. Isn't he the guy who every NFL GM would gladly cut off one of his nuts to hire? :D

I don't envision Mack Brown being the head coach at Texas next year.

I would agree with you for the most part about Kelly, but I've read that he may -- at some point -- have interest in returning to New England. The only way he'd even consider it at this point in his career is if he's fed up with Nike pulling all the strings, and I haven't seen anything to indicate that.

I feel compelled to point out that BC is NOT the worst team in the ACC this year.

If things don't take a big turn in the next year, we'll be discussing Mike London in the 2014 carousel thread.

If London gets fired, that would leave the ACC with zero black head football coaches. And if Charlie Strong leaves Louisville for Arkansas (or Auburn or Tennessee), the Big East, Big 12 and Big Ten won't have any, either.

Meanwhile, the good old racist SEC has three: James Franklin at Vanderbilt, Kevin Sumlin at Texas A&M and Joker Phillips at Kentucky (for now).

There's also a colossal difference between Oregon and Boston College. That's almost like going from Oklahoma to Rutgers. :D

    Well, yeah.

I didn't say it was going to happen, said it was unlikely, in fact. It's been floated out there, though.

Christensen just signed a five-year extension this past January, and has been to two bowls in the past three years. lot of Poke fans are unhappy with him but he's got a pretty big buyout and I don't believe he's going anywhere at the moment.

If Mack Brown is out at Texas, who would be the obvious candidates to replace him?

That name would definitely come up. Texas is one of the few schools that could match or top whatever Florida was willing to pay to keep him.

I don't see it happening, although I could see him flirting with it in order to get a bigger and longer deal.

I don't think Texas would hire him. I don't think he left Austin on very good terms.

    Applewhite should get some consideration.....
