It's always interesting when Riley's name comes up since he's turned down so many top gigs.

I think he'd go to Alabama or Southern Cal. That's it. But at this point, he's too old and his results at Oregon State have been too inconsistent for either (or Texas) to consider hiring him.

Yeah. And as pointed out in a previous week, Riley seems comfortable at Oregon State where going 8-4 is cause for delirium and 3-9 won't get you fired.

Riley had a chance to go to Alabama when Franchione left for Texas A&M and they eventually hired Mike Price. But I don't think he's got any desire to leave the West Coast.

Other than his four years of college, two years as a minor-league coach in San Antonio and a year as DBs coach of the New Orleans Saints, he's never lived east of the Rockies. The only reason he went to college at Alabama was because his father was from there and his uncle (Hayden Riley) was baseball coach.

Didn't Riley turn down USC when Kiffin got the job? Granted, the school was facing sanctions and that may have been the biggest reason...

I'd like to see that happen just for the UNC fans (those that care about football anyway) reaction. They still curse Mack Brown's name for some reason.

Yes, he did, and they were ready to load up the trucks to get him.

That would be the one time where his "I have family out there" schtick wouldn't be a complete lie, since he was a high school coach in Allen, Texas, as recently as 2000 before he signed on with DickRod at WVU.

Do you think Tommy Tuberville could resurface in the SEC at Arkansas or Tennessee? That would make the "War Damn Eagle" crowd extremely happy when he starts kicking their ass annually.....

I think a lot of BCS coaches have a tougher choice to make since a lot of schools keep rolling over their contracts every year they make a bowl. Hard to go somewhere for a five-year deal (even with a healthy bump) when you are sitting on a rolling eight-year contract.
Riley's signed through 2019 - 2020 if you count the extra year he'll get this year since they're bowl eligible.
Mack Brown is signed through 2020, Saban through 2019....

I figure Dan Mullen is a guy who could make the move up to Texas.

Neither of those schools is hiring a 58-year-old.

I don't think there's any chance Chip Kelly takes another college job. His next stop is the NFL, with a good chance it's as soon as next season.
