Tennessee is one of 14 teams to make a BCS title game, one of 11 to win one. Phillip Fulmer reached the SEC title game five times, missed out because of tiebreakers once and finished second in the East seven times. That's 13 out of 17 seasons in the top two of a division featuring Florida and Georgia.

Jon Gruden or a coach of his ilk could get Tennessee into the new four-team playoff.

Damn, you're more young than gun if you think that sums up Tennessee or Fulmer.

Yeah, before things unraveled on him the last three or four years, Fulmer had one of the highest winning percentages of all-time. He totally dominated Alabama for close to a decade. Couldn't beat Florida often enough during the 90s, though.

I think Colorado is a school that is willing to be patient, for among other reasons the fact they don't have the money to easily do buyouts. Witness Dan Hawkins staying as long as he did and the fact Embree has not been fired yet.

Embree would be perfectly safe this year if the team had just been bad. He will not be fired for going 1-11. He will be fired for being completely uncompetitive. Other than their one victory at Washington State thier conference highlight has been a 51-17 loss to Arizona State (the Buffs were only down three at halftime). They are that bad,

I think if you take the Coloado job you need to figure out where to recruit. Even McCartney had trouble keeping the best in-staters home. I think the move to the Pac-10 has killed whatever slim hopes they had of recruiting Texas, where they had historically found a lot of thier best players.

Why would anyone be in a hurry to hire Shawn Watson at a a SEC school? The guy has been OC for a year at Louisville. He was fired two years ago at Nebraska as OC. And he was 11-22 as a HC at Southern Illinois years ago. I could see him getting a job at a WAC or MAC school but jumping up to the SEC?

Auburn hired Gene Chizik, the guy who was 5-19 at Iowa State.

Further evidence that Shawn Watson should not be offered a SEC HC position.

Where were the millions of dollars in lawsuits? The $25,000 or so they paid Ms. Dorrell (sp)? Chump change.

UK fans loved Rich Brooks when he was winning 7 games a year. They would take that in a heartbeat.

Charlie Strong is not going to UK. It's a crappy job, and he and Joker Phillips are friends. There is also sincere gratitude on his part toward UL for giving him a head coaching job when it appeared he would not ever get the chance. The only place I think might get Charlie is Arkansas---I think they are the sleeping giant of the SEC.

Hey, maybe Petrino then goes back to Louisville....

The next championship defense Petrino is a part of will be his first. And unless five-star recruits have taken to hanging out in duck blinds, I don't think Tuberville is a threat to upset the balance of power.

Do you think there are better candidates out there for Kentucky and Arkansas?
