    A couple of things;

    I would love to see Gruden wind up in Knoxville. But you boys are right.....there is not a way in hell he would trade what he's doing now for the trainwreck going on in Rocky Top right now.

    Tuberville cannot get out of Lubbock fast enough. The whole headset fiasco has just proved what a crazy old coot he is. I really think he will end up in Fayetteville. And if that happens (knocking on wood)...call 1 had damn well better be to the oc (Neal Brown) , and if he says no......call 2 should be to Dykes.

    No super-secret sources, but one guy I trust very much has told me Gruden is not happening at TN.

    I have seen his name mentioned somewhere. ... and I believe he was one of the 8,536 people who turned down the job before Dooley took it. ... but David Cutcliffe would probably be an excellent fit. That is a program that needs stability, needs to try to rebuild a recruiting base (Tennessee doesn't have a natural recruiting area -- it has to be in national prominence and then poach the surrounding areas) and have a loyal guy looking for a place to settle down and stay for a while. Cutcliffe is a little old, but he already knows UT and he fits that bill. Not sexy, but I am always amazed by what he has gotten out of Duke the last few years. He'd bring stability and has enough coaching chops that you if you're a fan, you can worry more about the recruits he can get, rather than his decision making on the sideline.

    I agree Cutcliffe would be a good pick. If a guy can win at Duke (see Steve Spurrier), chances are he can coach..

    I agree that if they have to pay the farm to buy out Dooley, there may not be another pot of gold close by. How long does Dooley have left on his current deal? Maybe they wait if they can't afford.

    Former Colorado AD Mike Bohn, speaking of Dan Hawkins, was once quoted as saying "I can't afford a buyout." Nice public vote of confidence there.

    You guys are nuts. No way in hell David Cutcliffe, a Fulmer disciple, will ever put 105,000 asses in Neyland each week.

    Cal AD plans to meet soon, possibly Sunday, with Jeff Tedford. "In college football, there's not a lot of time to say 'we'll get to that tomorrow.'"

    Guessing it isn't going to be an attaboy speech.

    Is Bellotti still on Oregon's payroll?

    Know he left as A.D. back in 2010, but didn't know if he was still cashing the checks.

    He will be 15-22 the past three years after Saturday's loss to Oregon State. I'd say it's time to move on. He's 51 and mostly respected, so he'll land somewhere decent as a head coach. Or he'll be one of the top offensive coordinators in the country. He's not a bad coach, but he's in a rut, and both he and Cal deserve better.

    Keep an eye on two guys if Gruden turns down the UT job: Al Golden and Jack Del Rio.

    Are the Patterson rumors to Arkansas worth anything?

    Golden and Bill O'Brien make the most sense to me for schools wanting an upgrade. Golden got blindsided by the NCAA shitstorm, and I don't see him being blamed by anyone for jumping. O'Brien is a little trickier because he knew there would be fallout after Paterno's crash landing. But I don't think he was expecting such an unprecedented penalty. Personally I wouldn't blame him for going.

    Speaking of O'Briens...this went up on the Vanderbilt Rivals site but was deleted.
