Word is Anderson saw how that search was going and basically tanked the interview. Showed up in a Hawaiian shirt and khakis. His level of interest this time will be a good gauge on how much potential he thinks there is to turn things back around. If he backs away, I think that's a warning sign that Johnson and his ship of fools weren't the only problem at Southern.

NOLA.com now saying Arkansas offering Miles is legit.

Would the LSU fan base even care? As AQB's sig line shows, they don't exactly revere him.

Who would LSU get to replace less would probably determine how much they'd care. That sure doesn't feel like a program that goes to a hottest name in the assistant coach ranks. But if I were James Franklin, I'd sprint to the phone if it rang.

Florida hired a hot, young assistant. LSU is at best on the same level as Florida.

Is Miles so upset with the fans or administration that he'd actually consider leaving?

Vers, that's fair, but Muschamp would have already been a HC if he hadn't been led to believe he would be getting Mack Brown's job, right? In fact, you have to think Texas regrets the hell out of letting him get away so Mack could sit around going 7-4 and complain about the Longhorn network while he falls asleep in meetings.

Anyway, I don't buy that it's happening. LSU is such a better job in every conceivable way. You don't even have to leave the state to recruit.

Why do people assume Mack Brown is retiring soon? Or that Muschamp would have any better results than Brown?

The Nola.com story points out Miles' many ties to Jerrah, which makes me think the Arky gig could indeed be his...

I don't know Mark, how about the fact that Texas has sucked since Muschamp left and Florida is good again and Muschamp -- being one of the best recruiters and best college defensive minds there is -- is clearly the reason behind their resurgence?

Or, maybe, the "legit media" have been caught with their pants around their ankles as has been the case before over and over again.

Maybe Miles is just trying to get a raise or it is an elaborate scheme to get him a raise, and then bring in another previously thought untouchable coach to Fayetteville.

As best as I recall, the Petrino hire came from nowhere. Miles is past that and in another galaxy.
