I think Cowher is done. It isn't whatever price he'd ask - I just don't get the sense that he has a passion for coaching anymore.
Figure Gruden will want one more gig - wouldn't be surprised if he waited until his kids are done with high school.

Tedford could be on thin ice at Cal - of course, I dont' know if they could get a better coach to replace him. But his home was put on the market earlier this year. I'm trying to think of the "hot coach"...of the year.

Will Cutcliffe get any consideration at UT?

I mentioned it in an earlier post moreso as an attempt at wit, but Paul Rhoads is still a name I think teams should go for. What he has done at Iowa State since Chizik bailed - 22-21 record, bowl appearances in 2009 and 2011 and last year's win over Oklahoma State - is remarkable.

Like I said, as a Nebraska fan, I'd love for him to be the choice. Completely guessing, but Iowa State can't be paying him much.

Muschamp bailed to become head coach of one of the five best programs in the country.

Cut's the girl at the end of the bar at 12:59...he'd get the job, but only after Gruden, Lovie Smith, Kirby Smart and Gary Patterson turn them down.

That's the thing with Tedford... I don't think Cal can do any better. I also don't see that place letting him go if he's still owed money and I'm pretty sure he has a couple years left on his deal.

Only if there is a fourth Manning son to recruit... :D

    There is!

All kidding aside, Cut's main calling card would be having PM as UT OC once he retires from the Broncos.

It depends how bad this year gets, but more important it depends on how deep the private donors want to dig. The football coaches' salaries are not a part of the overall athletic department budget.

Tedford has been stuck in neutral and now is going in reverse. Not close to the program it was in the Rodgers or post-Rodgers years, and there are at least four Pac-12 programs that have passed them. That includes the one across the Bay and that is what could get Tedford fired.

That's basically on the coaching staff, to teach and develop those players. One reason why I never put any stock into the signing day hype of "So-and-so had an awesome recruiting class." Get back to me in 4-5 years and you can truly evaluate what sort of class it was.

Exactly, and that's my point. Texas has done a poor job evaluating its recruiting classes in the last few years.

I completely agree. I just worry that if you get rid of Tedford, if you don't hire the right replacement, they could be battling Colorado, Wazzu and Utah for the Pac-12 basement for the next several years. To be fair, Cal isn't that much higher than that right now.
