It'd be a damn good hire. Maybe not as exciting as Jon Gruden, but Strong will do well at Tennessee.

And winning 10 games in the Big Ten is a shit-ton easier than it would be if he went to Tennessee. He only has to look at Missouri this year to see how big of a step up in class that is.

Didn't seem to bother Texas A&M. And their coach was moving up from CUSA.

Not to mention Colorado promising to upgrade facilities etc. Jon Embree is wondering where all this administration support was when he was around.
Perhaps the administration got tired of hearing the McCartney fans talk about the old days, so they hire a McCartney guy and do nothing to support him (low salary etc.), watch him fall on his face and say "See? We tried your guy."

Nice to see Charlie Strong go from struggling to get interviews for jobs to now denying he's had them. He's a damn good coach who more than a few schools could have had a few years back.

Two good angles you probably won't hear on WWL.

Doesn't look like the scholly reduction will end up meaning much. Nothing like USC, for sure. They lost 3 scholarships per season, staring with this past season (82 vs. 85). They got a bit thin at LB this season, but they seemed to survive it just fine. Enough kids have transferred, taken medicals, etc. (been run off, in other words), where Meyer was able to take a full class in '12 & will bring in 22 or so for '13. They'll be just fine.

I wonder how much of aTm's success is do to Johnny Football -- or in other words, I wonder how much Gene Chizik Kevin Sumlin has in him? I guess we won't know for 4 more years.

(BTW, the story has 135 comments in about 45 minutes. Alabama & Auburn fans is crazy).

Don't know why, but I'm really rooting for Strong to stay at Louisville. Maybe just b/c I could see him being there for the next 20 years if he wanted to.

AP reports Idaho has hired his brother as head coach. At least one Petrino can find work.

    Go Vandals.
