I'm not shedding a tear over anybody. You're the one letting your emotions get away from you.

Betting on major league games is not the same thing as cheating. Nothing is more important than to be sure that the players and managers are trying to win. Rose's crime undermines that belief. I shouldn't have to explain that to you, but I'm not surprised that you need the help.

Wrong again, Joe. I really was asking. But it is very funny that you should question my honesty when you did something dishonest in taking my question out of context.

I was asking because I really did forget your point of view on that subject/ I wanted to know that in context of what you had just posted, in which you talked about holding people accountable for bad behavior. That sure sounds like an intent to punish to me. Now if you could just admit to it.

That just leaves us with the question of whether not you and others withholding your vote is damaging to the player. I think we can all agree that getting in the Hall of Fame is a very big deal to these guys. Taking that away is damaging. Making them wait longer than necessary is, too. If you earned an award that meant a lot to you, but somebody decided you had to wait 10 or 15 extra years to claim it, I'm pretty damn sure you'd consider that to be damaging to you.

More importantly, leaving them off the ballot now hurts those players' chances later. I get that I'm on less-than-100 percent theoretical ground there, but nobody has even bothered to challenge it.

So you've shown that you do want players who used performance enhancers held accountable and that you are willing to do something damaging to them. That sounds like punishment to me. Maybe you just didn't realize it. Or maybe you are as dishonest as you accused me of being. Doesn't matter which, but the truth is quite clear.

No one said it did. Just saying that one of the supplements we know for sure he was taking in 1998 was sold OTC at the time.

OOP, I'm real comfortable with the perspective that criminals put themselves in jail, criminals bring on their own punishment. They're the ones who flip the switches on their fate. Process takes over.

As for waiting for awards, I assume I'm waiting for several at this moment that I earned along the way. Didn't juice either.

One ballot tracker with around four percent of vote on some names —

    Bonds 70.6
    Clemens 70.6
    Morris 70.6
    Raines 44.5
    Sosa 21.7
    McGwire 21.7

In other words, you are finally admitting that these guys you don't vote for are being punished if their enshrinement into the Hall of Fame is delayed or never happens at all, but you refuse to take responsibility for your decision. Thank you for finally admitting to that much.

You are one sick and feeble fuck, OOP. This constant fixation with restating my words as "in other words" would get you socked in the eye in real life.

I write for a fucking living, asshole. Have done so for a long time and, yes, if the curtain were pulled back, I'm confident my career dick is bigger than yours. My words work just fine. I don't need you paraphrasing and warping my meaning to suit your screwhead games. Oh, and you surely do not earn your living as an editor, because the other people in your office would have fragged you by now.

My ballot goes out by Dec. 31. I'll put an extra stamp on it to make sure it flies fast, pleased to know it's got you so sideways. The guys I leave unchecked might want to persuade you or pound you to get off their sides, cuz you're only hurting their chances.

    Done with you, fuckball.
