There is a difference between arguing relentlessly when you believe you are right and just digging at every opportunity to pick a fight. I certainly have my own history of not playing nice, but no, I don't do what TP is doing. I have caused more than my fair share of trouble, but I mean what I post here. I honestly don't think TP even means half of the crap he is tossing out there.

Edit: Full disclosure, now that I think of it, I've done it to Manky, making negative comments about Jeter just to mess with him on threads he has already hijacked with his obsession.

Have any of those sites tracking HOF votes been updated lately?

As of the this afternoon, two are:

92 ballots, which is 16 percent of last year's total. They count full ballots only. This one will get to around 200 ballots

    70.7 - Biggio
    67.4 - Bagwell
    63.0 - Morris
    62.0 - Raines
    60.9 - Piazza
    43.5 - Clemens
    43.5 - Bonds
    39.1 - Schilling
    38.0 - Trammell
    37.0 - E. Martinez
    35.9 - L. Smith
    18.5 - D. Murphy
    16.3 - McGriff
    15.2 - McGwire
    14.1 - Raffy
    14.1 - Walker
    13.0 - Sosa
    5.4 - Mattingly
    3.2 - Lofton
    3.2 - Rose
    2.2 - Wells
    2.2 - Williams

The second has 67 ballots, but does include partial ballots:

    70.1 Biggio
    68.5 Bagwell
    68.5 Raines
    58.2 Morris
    53.7 Piazza
    46.2 Bonds
    46.2 Schilling
    44.8 Clemens

Nobody is getting in this year.

Which is ridiculous given the list of eligible players.

Biggio and Morris are the only ones with a chance. Bagwell and Piazza are being held back by the all-PED npn-voters and Raines is making a good jump but there is no way he gets the more than 30 percent jump and he always polls better with known voters. Morris, meanwhile, always polls worse, and Bagwell's percent was exact last year compared to the final vote.

That's interesting. I was hoping Raines, Biggio and Morris were going to get in this year... I think if Raines and Morris don't get in this year both will have to wait awhile...

Morris only has one more year on the ballot. If he's closer than he was last year (48 votes short), I don't know what the voters will do. If you are already voting for Clemens, and you have Maddux and Glavine to vote for, are you going to pick a fourth pitcher on a full ballot, let alone a small one, with all the other guys — including the fact that people are voting for Schilling and not Morris.

If no one gets in, then I think Morris won't make it next year, unless the Dale Murphy protest votes all switch to Morris protest votes.

Raines is going to be stuck for a while. Biggio and Bagwell are the first two hitter choices and Piazza is basically his equal as a first-year guy. Depending on what happens with Frank Thomas next year and people's opinion of Bonds, that makes Raines the sixth best hitter on the ballot with three stud pitcher choices. He'll make the big ballots but is screwed on the small ones.

Biggio and Bagwell almost need to get in this year. Morris won't matter. He is out of the running after next year anyway. So if he misses it's not a long term issue. Piazza getting in next year hinges on the Killer Bs going in now.

Has any voter ever come forward to say why they don't vote Raines in? I know the theories out there as to why he doesn't get votes ( small market, hung around forever, the drugs), but I don't think I have ever heard one legitimate baseball writer/historian/fan say "you know what, fuck Raines, he wasn't that good."
