The only thing you listed falling into that category is the part about not voting for someone to prevent unanimity. I suspect that percentage of voters is pretty tiny. Rickey Henderson, Cal Ripken, and Tony Gwynn were all in the 95-99 percent range.

Some of the voters are on the record as stating that they don't want a unanimous inductee because Babe Ruth, Cobb, and others were not unanimous.

You might disagree with that stance, but the fact that, at most, 1.5 percent of the voters seem to hold it does not seem to cut in favor of changing the process.

Every single thing I listed is a voter worrying about something other than just picking those who he believes to be worthy of the Hall of Fame.

Dick, I'm addressing you, since I'd rather fuck a garbage disposal than address oop, but can you please start a new quote string the next time you reply to him?

PED use is a reason a writer may or may not feel a player belongs in the Hall of Fame.

I think they're all making it clear they aren't voting for the players who they think are the most deserving.

They're punishing the players who they think cheated by not voing for them and most of the writers are acknowledging that they will vote for them at some point in the future. Some of the players being punished have never been proven guilty of anything.

Baseball and the HOF don't want to have to deal with this every year and it's probably a safe bet that there will be presumed or admitted PED users showing up on the ballot for at least the next decade.

What do they do about it? Do they do anything about it?

Maybe the only players who get in in the next several years will be pitchers (other than Clemens) and Biggio and Griffey Jr or any other batters who nobody suspects of using. I'm guessing there aren't too many of them.

Well, by that way of thinking, why is this year any different than any of the other years when McGwire and Palmeiro were on the ballot?

Next year's ballot will be mind-blowing. And there will be so many guys deserving votes, only Maddux will get in. We may have a situation where guys who at one point were considered locks, with little to no PED evidence (Thomas, Glavine, Piazza, Biggio, etc.) will have to wait years to get in.

It isn't. But other people got in those years, so there wasn't this kind of reaction. It went largely unnoticed.

Yes, by all means take comments out of context at the whim of Uncle Fester.

First rule of the button, Uncle Fester. Don't talk about the button.

It's amazing that Bonds and Clemens don't have the exact same number of votes.
