The guy who had a 30-30 necklace made for himself was one-dimensional?

That's not in the criteria they were asked to vote by, unless I'm mistaken.

The big question-do the HOFers come out for induction weekend in a self-congratulatory mood because this vote is an indictment against the steroid users so many have rallied against, or do they stay away in record numbers?

How is this different than, say, the way that guys encourage each other to vote for Bert Blyleven or Jim Rice? It's a small world. Of course peers seek the thoughts of other peers. Same thing we do here.

Most likely they stay away because they aren't going to get paid enough. The autograph shows are going to be worth shit.

There's a character clause in the criteria.

I think that it is certainly implied by the 15-year voting period that if you have nagging doubts about a player's character - or any aspect of his candidacy - then you can wait and see what develops.

Gee said it much better than I can but, in short, a vindictive group of assholes does not deserve the right to decide which players are Hall of Fame worthy.

    What a joke.
Raines obviously belonged in, but that's been pointed out by people who know a lot more about this.
How do you not vote for Biggio? Is there even a hint that he used anything?

You think? The guys who played for the love of the game and the smell of the grass!?

If the Baseball Hall of Fame is being selected using the methods we use here, that is the most frightening thing I have read in a long time. Even more frightening is you are probably right.

Sub-.794 OPS in a heavily offensive era.

He's borderline. Only the stolen bases lift him over the threshold, to me.

I don't have a lot of faith in the passage of time to shed more light on the situation in this case. It's only going to muddy the waters.
