And the A's score another run to make it 3-0, the catcher coming home from third on a medium-deep flyball to left field, where Jhonny Peralta -- he of the three career games as an outfielder -- makes the catch and three-hops a throw to the plate. This is kind of a fun turnaround watching the A's benefit in the postseason from another team's disregard of defense.

Dodgers just announced that they're starting Clayton Kershaw opposite Freddy Garcia tonight.

An hour ago, I got the Dodgers at -153 on the ML. Now, they're at -220.

    Braves are at +210.

This is a bad decision even if it works, but I believe it will blow up in the Dodgers' faces instead.

    Agreed.

Don't really understand it. Worst-case scenario you have Kershaw on full rest in Game 5. He threw 124 pitches last time out, second-highest total of his career, and is working on three days' rest for the first time ever.

@DCameronFG: Last 20 years, 84 pitchers have started a playoff game on 3 days rest. Combined ERA? 4.60.

Fucked if I know but Balfour wasn't backing down when Martinez was coming out to the mound.

I like the Kershaw move. Now the Braves have to beat Kershaw and Greinke. Otherwise it would have been Nolasco and Kershaw.

Cardinals Michael Wacha has a no-hitter through six innnings with seven strikeouts. One walk in the sixth ended the perfect game.

St. Louis leads 2-0 on a Matt Holiday two-run homer to deep center.

Probably pitching matchup if it goes five games: Wainwright vs. Cole, which would be a doozy.

    I agree.

It's the easiest route to advance to the next round. Once you get there, you can start Greinke Game One and Kershaw (on normal rest) for Game 2. They'll get at least four starts (five if you need it) in seven-game series.

    Love the move.
