Which has been stated a few times already just on this thread. Having him do it after throwing 124 pitches just does not seem wise. It may even get them a victory, but you don't mess with an asset like Kershaw.

You don't think it's worth looking at, especially since Kershaw's never done it?

Most of the guys who have done it were pretty good pitchers. You don't rush back a number 4 starter on short rest. You bring back a number 1 or a number 2, so you don't have to start a lesser pitcher.

I know Kershaw has never started a playoff game on three games rest because he hasn't started many playoff games at all.

My point was unless he has done it before, what 20 other guys did doesn't mean a whole lot.

He's never started any game on three days rest.

And, while what other pitchers have done may not be predictive, it is worth consideration. Lot's of good pitchers have tried, and failed to pitch well on three days rest. And, they weren't all coming off a 124 pitch outing in their previous start.

Totally sucked the last time he pitched a playoff game on 3 days rest!

Didn't C.C. Sabathia start for something like a month straight on 3 days rest with the Brewers?

    It certainly means a little.

    That's actually 2 days rest.

If the Dodgers aren't going to use Nolasco tonight -- at home where he has been very good, with a one-game advantage, and against the weakest lineup they're likely to see this postseason -- it looks like a vote of no confidence for the rest of the playoffs. Which means that in a championship run they would be looking at a three-man rotation and asking Kershaw to start seven or eight games instead of four or five. That doesn't sound like a great idea with a 25-year-old who is the most important player in the franchise's future.

Seems like a desperation move from a team that shouldn't be desperate.
