He might have caught it, but the ball was well above the yellow line. I just don't see how they could have changed the call.

Yeah, but it's getting cluttered with all the hot stove stuff. How about putting the hot stove stuff on the hot stove thread, eh??

    *That* is funny.

OK I'm just tuning in here, but WTF is going on with the Rays' pitching? Is this smart? Just looking at boxscore, Hellickson was a bit wild, but Wright and Moore had no trouble and one (or both) could have stretched it for a couple innings and preserved the options, at least.

But I guess Maddon feels like he has 10 pitchers available, more if he uses Price.

Take it for the fanboi reaction it is, but it's highly likely Reddick catches that ball. He has had quite a few similar plays and it's kind of a specialty of his going up like that against the fence.

I'm sorry, but the home plate umpire should have told Victorino to stay in the batter's box. He sticks his arms over the plate and makes no effort to get out of the way. That pitch was damn-near a strike.

I concur, and Prince Fielder did something of the sort earlier today. But is that ever called?

Not disagreeing with you at all. But that far above the yellow line I can't see calling fan interference. Where they stuck their hands out -- while beyond the railing -- was still above the yellow line. It wouldn't be that hard to paint the railing yellow and make that the line.

OK now I get it -- Hellickson fell apart to start the second and Maddon took him out before he even had a chance to allow a run. Dang, that guy can work a game. This is a hell of a managing performance.

Yeah. Threw eight straight balls to the first two hitters then gave up a hit to load the bases. Wright comes in and gets a called third strike and a liner to first for a double play.
This is a great game so far.
