By the way, Molina DID tag Ellis.

And it was Michael Young's popup that got Ellis thrown out at home.

What's up with Mattingly refusing to use Jansen?

Doesn't wanna use him until he gets a lead.

Dammit, Rush Hour 3 is supposed to be on now...

Exactly, which is a dumb way to think. Extremely dumb.

Not really, you get a one-run lead and bring in Jansen to shut the door.

It's dumb because you can't just assume you're going to get that lead. Who is more likely to prolong the game, your best reliever or some other reliever? Because, in this scenario, you're trying to extend the game. So not using Jansen isn't wise at all.

Yeah but Jansen can only go one inning, if you try to use him for two he's no good for tomorrow probably. Who'd close the game if you do get that lead?

Someone else. But that reliever would have room to work with, whereas Jansen wouldn't. You want your best reliever in the most dire of circumstances. And if the Dodgers allow a run in this scenario, they lose.

    Well, there you go.

Yeah, totally. Wait until there's a mess and force Jansen to get out of it, or bring Jansen in at the beginning of the inning and probably not have that happen. But, yeah.
