Incredible how many low scoring games we have this postseason. already a couple near no hitters and a lot of 1-3 run games. Why are pitchers dominating those good hitters so much?

Saw a stat today: Cardinals became the third team to start two guys 25-and-younger in games 1 and 2 of a playoff series against two Cy Young winners.

The teams starting the youngsters are 6-0 against the Cys.

Could of course be random, but I think it's a result of the added emphasis on bullpens. In the postseason there's no trying to get through a fifth or sixth inning; you bring your specialist in ASAP and go one inning or even one out at a time after that. And every guy in the bullpen is there for a specific reason, the one thing he does better than anyone else.

We are in a severely depleted run environment.
It's only natural it will carry over to the postseason.

And the pitchers are better and the weather's cooler (which means the ball doesn't carry).

There are other factors at play.
This is an era being dominated by the dirty changeup.

We're in an era where pitchers are cheating in plain sight. The other day Bull Frog sunscreen was spotted in the Red Sox dugout in Tampa. What do you think it was used for? Kimbrel and other pitchers clearly have pine tar or some other substance on their hat bill that they go to before every pitch. It's obvious.

    No argument there.
Cliff Lee has had a shitstain on the back of his cap for years.
