Deadspin points out how the Cardinals play the game the right way.

that entire deadspin post is based on barry petchesky insisting wainwright was mad about gonzalez celebrating after his double, even though the "mickey mouse" quote cites something none of us saw or heard while he was on third base

i think the unwritten rules are as stupid as anyone else does, but you should probably make sure players are mad about what you think they're mad about before making a huge deal of it

As a reminder of how cool the playoffs can be:

Even as a Giants fan, I still get chills thinking that I experienced the Gibson homer and got to see that at-bat; truly the most electric AB I've seen, the whole hobbling up there, the awful swings, then the magic and the arm pumps around the bases.

Either that or don't get caught doing the same shit.

I had to read through a couple pages to make sure someone posted this. A very nice takedown.

again, my point was the story line about wainwright being mad because gonzalez celebrated at second base is fabricated. wainwright's quote is about something gonzalez did at third base. neither you nor i know what that was. this appears to have gone right over your and everyone else's head.

Unless he pulled a Joe Thornton, what does it matter? Is any of it worse than what that link shows various Cardinals players doing? Or worse than Holliday barrel-rolling Scutaro five feet behind the base last year? Or worse than all the butthurt Carpenter has gotten into over the years (the Brewers feud being the best example)?

there is nothing wrong with gonzalez celebrating, or with molina mocking nyjer morgan in the nlcs. my point is that people are making the cardinals out to be the fun police when none of the cardinals said there is something wrong with celebrating. wainwright said he was mad about gonzalez trying to distract him while he was pitching, yet the narrative is he was mad about gonzalez celebrating.

as for puig, it blows my mind that people are making celebrating a home run you didn't hit into a heroic act. if puig had actually hit a home run and beltran had said something, i wouldn't be defending the cardinals. but that's not what happened.

as for chris carpenter, yes, he is a psycho, but he had nothing to do with last night.

If that's his beef, he is a bigger baby than I thought. Someone should show him some video of Rickey Henderson.

Carpenter has a lot to do with this crap. He sits in the dugout and coos in Wainwright's ear every inning. Wainwright didn't used to be this dickish but he has clearly inherited the red-ass role.

i have zero problem with you saying that. i have a problem with the headline on the deadspin story being "cardinals complain about dodgers' 'mickey mouse' celebrations." especially from a website that prides itself on calling out the traditional media for manufacturing narratives

Would "Rich trash" be less offensive or idiotic?
