You should still have a stench for rooting for John Rocker.

    Napoli- 2013 - $5M; Cherington GM of the Year (Uehara probably getting somewhere close to that as well; two great pickups);

BTW, Scioscia still happy that that he kept Iannetta (?) and let Napoli go.

I am loving Uehara. Kind of slinger I'd love the Dodgers to get.

Even worse, he kept Jeff Mathis over Napoli. They got Ianetta later.

And the return for Napoli, who was quickly flipped to the Angels biggest rival, was Vernon Wells and all of his contract.

    Great move, Halos.

Napoli was a monster for the Rangers. Hit 8th in the World Series for a reason I'll never comprehend.

Usually, when a hitter just kills a team and they get said hitter, it backfires big time, as it ignores the role played by the team's pitchers in his success. But Napoli has sure been an exception to that rule for the Sox.

Should have been like that all year.

Holy shit. You haven't lived until you've taken a good shot in the gonads while turning two.

Scioscia's catching mancrush at the time was Jeff Mathis. He of the career .195 BA and .565 OPS.

Scioscia didn't like the way Napoli squatted. And he walked alot, verbotin under Scioscia and Hatcher.

edit - sorry, I didn't see it was answered above.... i am still irritated just thinking about it.

oh btw, the Angels are still paying a majority of Wells' gargantuan salary NEXT year.

    Smooth move, Angels.

Yeah it was Mathis, I knew it was a defensive oriented C.

As for the playoffs, love Jayson Stark's writeup:

    More emotion, not less.

With that pre-game duel between Kelly and Van Slyke, the Cardinals and Dodgers have reached the petty point of no return.

I know I'm piling on, but good gravy these TBS announcers are so freaking boring. MLB has enough trouble making its sport palatable to the under 30 set...and these gravelly voiced sleepy heads are the best they can do?
