Well, no, because first the manager has to go out and ask for a review. That's going to take more than 30 seconds.

Play happened at 8:29 eastern, was reversed within 2 minutes and the next pitch occurred 2 minutes after that. (the joys of being able to rewind.)

This is a pretty humiliating performance by Wainwright.

Worst unwritten rule in baseball: a pitcher is never supposed to field a popup. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid.

I think Kozma has been the bigger embarrassment.

It's a close call. Inability to field is choking, pure and simple.

It's a lot harder for a manager to make an infield change than a pitching change. Well, maybe they'll get 'em tomorrow.

    My dad likes the Cardinals.

Used to listen to them on KMOX in the 30s. Flamethrower signal.

    Says he remembers Dizzy Dean.

    Carry on.

The Beltran catch will obviously be compared to the Torii Hunter non-catch, but the ball in the ALCS was hit much, much harder.

Why shouldn't Matheny just get Wainwright now (or preferably, earlier in the second inning) and keep him fresh for potential starts in Games 4 and 7? It makes no sense to use him up now and save the bullpen, seeing as the win probability for this one is now quite low.

Beltran's out now. Could be losing a World Series in the first two innings.

Wainwright continues to rack up meaningless innings instead of being saved for Game 4...
