The Red Sox made for a nice story when they hadn't won a championship in a few decades. Now, with three in 10 years, they're becoming the New York Yankees North. Easy to dislike.

I usually watch the player celebration for a few seconds, but once the microphones come out, I click the TV off. Almost never is anything interesting said.

The way the four-letter network is covering this, you'd think this was 2004 all over again.

It's a shame New England didn't have access to TV in 04 & 07 so Sox fans could see them clinch back then.

    Nobody interviewed Bill James.

He's thinking about the shtupping he's about to give his young'un. Hey, a little hedge fund analysis and he's tumescent.

What about the old guy Erin Andrews interviewed in the stands, who had been a season-ticket holder for 65 years. She said he'd "never missed a single game in all that time."

So over the course of 5,000-plus games since 1948, he never skipped a game to go to a wedding, due to illness or because it looked like it might rain? Yeah, I believe that.

If that's true, the guy's an asshole.

Never had to miss a game for one of his kid's school conferences, for a graduation, for any family gathering, a loved one was going through a rough time and needed him to be there?

Definitely a lie. Which would make him an attention-whoring asshole.

Or maybe he's just a loner.

In his defense, I think he just said he'd been a season-ticket holder for 65 years. The "never missed a game" anecdote seems like a detail she conjured out of the air.
