Both Iwakuma and Felix Hernandez are more deserving as of now, as is Matt Moore.

And Clay Buchholz, Hiroki Kuroda, Chris Sale, Anibal Sanchez and Jon Lester have to at least be in the conversation as better than Darvish right now.

Darvish is 16th in the American League in ERA. No doubt he has been very good, but plenty of others have been better so far.

Awards talk before late August is almost pointless.

A guy could be 14-0 though July, then blow out his arm. Sayonara, Cy Young.

Well, record is meaningless, so I don't care if a guy is 23-0. It doesn't necessarily merit a Cy Young Award.

    Not my point. At all.

Understood. You were saying a guy could be having easily the best season and then blow out his arm. But using wins to justify your point doesn't do any favors because it's a horrible stat.

mariano Rivera is the greatest pitcher of all time. His ERA+ 206. Next best is Pedro at 154 and Jim Devlin at 150.

Another bad example. ERA+ doesn't take into account innings pitched. Rivera doesn't have close to enough of those to come remotely close to being one of the top pitchers of all-time.

He didn't think what I think he said, did he? Anyone? Bueller?

He's the best reliever of all-time, but if the Yankees thought he was truly one of the greatest pitchers of all-time, they'd have put him in a position where he would be most valuable to the team, as a starter.
