Durant donated $1 million. Kemp, who makes more and is from the area, is donating $10,000.

My problem with this is just donate the money if you are going to do something. Don't make it contigent on soemething you do on the field.

Especially something you currently suck at.

These kinds of things work best when they have a corporate sponsor attached. If they make a deal with the TV and/or radio rights holders, then they talk about the money donated and the corporate sponsor each time the player hits a HR.

And, if you donate, and get the sponsor to match it, you've doubled the contribution. Then you get the announcers to remind the folks watching/listening how they can also donate.

Kemp has always been an asshole who tries to make people think he isn't an asshole.

Do you have a way to back this up?

    How do you know?

That's very possible and wouldn't be surprising at all. When I mentioned that he seems like a good dude, it was based on very limited knowledge of the guy.

Watching him for the last five years?

He got into a big flap with Torre and Larry Bowa, who basically accused him of quitting, and his agent (Dave Stewart) threw a big hissy fit during a contract flap. He got benched for not backiing up second on a SB attempt and somehow that became the organization's fault in his head. There was all the Rihanna bullshit. And he takes more fake-tough strolls toward the pitcher than probably anybody in the game.

And now taking to Twitter to announce how awesomely generous he is.

    Good dude all around.

How does dating Rihanna make him an asshole?

It's not dating Rihanna. It's a lot of stuff he was doing associated with that. Plus all the other stuff I mentioned.

You're free to think he's a swell guy. There is ample evidence to support my statement, though.

    "Dear Families of OKC,

On Monday, out of concern and emotion I committed $1,000.00 for every home run I hit until the All-Star Break. It was a quick and small gesture in advance of what I knew would be my greater contribution through your rebuilding process. I am keeping my pledge and in addition, donating $250,000.00. May God bless you through this and the many generous donations coming to your aid.

Can the Indians just pick a freaking uniform and go with it? Or do they need to join half of MLB, and have red caps, with red as the uni's dominant color?
