I don't think that's what led them to Madoff. They were already with him. Better to say their success with Madoff was the reason they cut those deals. Instead of paying off the contracts right away, they deferred the money and put the base amount with Madoff, and they would make money on the deal even after paying the players principal plus interest. What could go wrong?

OK, that makes sense. I knew there was some relationship. Partial credit.

He can't hit righties... AT ALL. But that hasn't stopped Evan Gattis from absolutely crushing lefties. He has 12 homers already this season, one per 11 at-bats.

Nine of his 12 home runs are against righties.

Wherever you have been for the last week, go back there.

He's sporting a .270 OBP against RHP. That's what I was getting at when I said he can't hit them. Looking at the numbers, which I should've done from the beginning, you're right. He has taken plenty of them deep.

Eric Wedge is setting a new bar for stupidity by managers. Dustin Ackley sent down largely because, according to Wedge, of sabermetrics.

Not sure if a stat line of .205 BA, 1 HR and 8 RBIs in 45 games counts as sabermetrics. It's more like a season-long slump.

Or maybe playing second base between Justin Smoak and Brenden Ryan caused his hitting talent to erode ...

Not because he's hitting .205 with one home run in 171 plate appearances? It's not because of that, it's "largely" because of sabermetrics?

Again, please take another week off.

Yep, this quote indicates nothing if not overreliance on those wacky sabermetrics.

And since he is hitting worse and for less power than he ever has, couldn't that be part of the explanation?

Maybe on his way out of the clubhouse he can tell Morse to take more walks.

No, sabermetrics are not the cause for a hitter sucking. That is a ridiculous conclusion.
