Well, I'm on vacation, hanging around the house, and it's Tuesday afternoon. It's either this or Dr. Oz. This was better background noise, and only half as painful.

Between the A’s arrival in Oakland and Barry Bonds’ first year as Giant in 1993, the A’s outdrew the Giants in 17 of 25 seasons (it’s been all Giants ever since). The A’s drew 2.9 million fans in 1990, something San Francisco didn’t do until Pac Bell Park opened.

Lessons the A’s could learn from the Giants: Keep your stars, build a new park and get owners who don’t openly talk about moving the team.

Watching Yankees-Mets yesterday, I could've sworn Keith Hernandez likened a broken bat to a dead soldier. Sure enough, that's what he said.

ETA: I've never heard this phrase used before yesterday.

Eh, that's a pretty common term. I hear announcers say all the time that a broken bat "died a hero" if it's on a hit.

Unfortunate timing, but not really all that bad.

This might be a silly question, but is Miguel Cabrera underrated?

Nobody has ever won the batting Triple Crown back to back, and nobody's ever won more than 2 in their entire career. Do you think he can do it this year? Do you think he can win it more than twice total?

It's a good accomplishment, I guess, but it's bullshit to use that as a crutch to call him underrated. Once again, he wasn't even the best player in the league last year (that was Trout) and, while he's dominating this year, keep in mind that Albert Pujols had a stretch way longer where he was even more dominant than Miggy is now.

Herpes, go back to taking a week off. You've shown your posts today still aren't very coherent.

    A week-long ban ain't gonna fix that ...

Can I get one of those headsets like they give to delegates at the UN to get an English translation of NDJ's last post?

That said, Gehrig may be on to something ...

Come to think of it, his posts of the last week or so were probably the best he's ever made.

If any of you harbor fantasies of winning a major league game on the mound, go www.royals.com/schedule and book your flight accordingly.
