    First rule of comedy:

Whereas LTL serves it up ...

    ... Riptide knocks it down.

Nope. That's false. It would have been suspended and finished at a later time.

No, THAT's false. The new rule allowed the game to be rolled back to the end of the 8th inning, and the crew chief explains it here:

It confused me too -- pretty sure the rule just came in to play this year.

This is what I thought to be true when I made the OP. I knew the score would revert if the inning wasn't completed. The only exception I can think of is a case like the Phillies-Rays World Series, when it took three days to finish the last game.

Wacha was averaging less than 6 K/9 in AAA.

Yeah, I think you and I were on the same page. It can get confusing. There was a little bitching in STL (from fans, not the team) about the long delay, but I don't think there was any other way to handle it than what they did. Giving the Cardinals a 2-1 win would have been a pretty nice size screwjob. It's a late night, but play the game out.

Same umpiring crew that worked KC-St. L also worked the Diamondbacks-Cubs game today. Day game. There are times where they get it right, and they did here.

Game story from last night said the umpires had a limo waiting to drive them to Chicago, since the game went so late. They couldn't have gotten much sleep.

MLB Network just posted a few stats:

    * Cubs pitchers had 19 RBIs in May -- most ever by a pitching staff in a month

    * Machado's 44 hits in May were the most by a player under 21 since Mantle in '52

Hard not to like these Orioles with guys like Davis, Jones, Wieters, Machado, Markakis, Hardy ... that is a quality set of guys around any pitcher.

Strassburg leaves tonight after two innings with "shoulder stiffness." Anyone in a position to keep an eye on Moddy and keep him away from sharp instruments?

And tornado threat axes Giants-Cardinals. Two tomorrow ... maybe.
