Yeah, giving up a HR to the pitcher is inexcusable.

Nice throw by Puig on that play at 3B. Perfect throw, actually. Simmons slid right into the tag.

Bull. You thought it it supported the ridiculous point you keep arguing no matter how badly it has been refuted.

Though I didn't hear it, from the context you are providing, it sounds like he didn't even mean it the way you think he did. He wasn't saying that you can't evaluate a player or project future performance based on previous seasons. He was saying that players have to keep working even when they have success or it will all fall apart.

Next time you go for the gotcha, make sure you actually understand what the quote you are using means.

    Stay classy, Larry Wayne Jr.

I saw he sent out an apologetic folo. But if he knew it would be offensive, why'd he tweet it?

I'll explain why: Because where he's from, what he said is a hilarious joke in mixed company. I'm from the same type of place and that's just the truth.

If he says that — if anyone says that — at a house party in suburban Atlanta, 98% of the people there are laughing along with him and the other 2% who understand it's offensive and ignorant aren't going to rock the boat and tell him he's being an asshole.

Chipper's just dumb enough to broadcast that shit to the whole world instead.

Your skill at hitting a baseball does not correspond to your skill at social commentary ... or comedy. Go back to the ranch and STFU. Nobody cares what you have to say.

The Braves' dilemma: What to do when Brandon Beachy comes back.

In other words, choose five from: Hudson, Medlen, Teheran, Maholm, Minor and Beachy.

There are, I suppose, worse problems to have.

There are, but it's still a problem.

Medlen's the most versatile, but he's pitched great of late and more than earned his rotation spot last year. It wouldn't be fair to jerk him around.

If it's a seniority thing, then you put Teheran in the bullpen. But he just pitched a one-hitter.

Do you put Beachy in the bullpen for the second half and ease him back in? Seems like a waste of resources.

Hudson's not been great this year and is a free agent after the season, but I don't see the Braves dumping a popular veteran with local ties. (And he's a 10-and-5 guy, so they couldn't trade him even if they wanted to).

Minor's been probably the most consistent guy all year long, and was great in the second half last year as well.

I wouldn't be stunned if they traded Maholm — a free agent after the year — for bullpen help, but they wouldn't do that until Beachy shows he's both healthy and effective. Which means you have to pull someone else from the rotation first.

I honestly don't know what they're going to do. Wouldn't surprise me to see a 6-man rotation for a couple of weeks.

I would also imagine they're unlikely to want to trade Maholm, or anyone else for that matter, to any other NL club, which will limit what they can do.

Of the six, though, Hudson is the least likely to be pitching for them next season, but as you say, he's not exactly the kind of guy you want to trade away, even if they could.

Beachy's first game will be one of a doubleheader, so they can use the 26-man rule, but that just buys them another four or five days to make a decision.

I warn Braves fans on this board. This discussion is maximum bad karma. Anytime a team starts thinking it has a surplus of starting pitchers, Biblical plagues and disasters strike those pitchers.

One thing I think fans really underestimate in baseball is the attrition rate on pitchers. They are the running backs of baseball. In any given year, 15-20% of the previously successful ones are going to have a major arm injury or simply have their stuff wear down to the point they are ineffective.

You never have too much pitching.
