Ugh. I'm well aware of his number of at bats. But if you think Nats fans shouldn't be excited about the kid, you're a bigger dipshit than everyone gives you credit for. And that's all I was saying. Which was obvious.

But hey. Espinosa did get a hit last night in Syracuse!

Then do a better job of making the point. Rendon is an elite prospect and the move to second base puts him in a position to really help them if he works out there long term. Some guy hitting .320 for 49 at-bats doesn't mean much. It's the fact that such a talented prospect is off to a fast start since being called up that makes him a reason for optimism for Nats fans.

Were you one of the Nats fans going on about Lombardozzi last season? Is that the point of the Espinosa reference? Because I was right. Lombardozzi is a nice utility player at best.

Of course, you could have just taken my post as a joke, tweaking you and Bodie, as it was intended.

My point was simple. And understood by everyone but you.

I understood it just fine. I made a joke of it, which sailed right over your head.

But now that you want to make an actual argument out of it, you did a terrible job of explaining why Rendon is worth being excited about.

Suspensions have been handed out for the Diamondbacks-Dodgers fracas. Biggest is 10-game ban for Kennedy.

    Suspensions for pitchers are laughable.

While it only costs them two starts, in this case, it does cost him a good chunk of his salary. If I recall, it's based on a 180-day calendar, so 10+any off days/180 is a sizeable amount.

Are the Yankees, once Jeter and A-Rod and Mo Rivera call it quits, going to return to their late-'80s/early-'90s era of suck?

He'll probably appeal, right? Which means he'll probably make his next start and only miss one start total. If that, depending on the schedule.

So he's basically getting fined. Like he gives a shit about that.

At 10 games, it would be difficult (though not impossible) to make it so he misses only one start. Say he misses two, of his scheduled 32-34 starts for the season. That's 5-6 percent of his schedule, about equivalent to a nine-game player suspension. Even if they work it where he only misses one, it's about equivalent to a five-game suspension and they have to rework their bullpen and other parts of the rotation to accommodate the changes.

Between that and the cash, it's a sizable enough penalty.
