I will agree with Herpes, re: Morse over LaRoche. Never been much of a fan. They overpaid for a career contract year at age 32. But fuck it. It's not my money.

It is two years, not a career thing. He is a better fit. They got three good prospects back for a guy in his walk year.

Including one of the pitchers they traded for Gio.

It should be noted that when a team's management is forced to choose between two useful players at the same position, it means said management is doing a damn good job. I'm sure the Nationals had mixed emotions when they let Morse go.

Indeed, Michael. And I don't want to sound like I'm knocking Morse in any way. Had LaRoche signed elsewhere, the Nats' fan base would have been A-OK with Morse at first. But LaRoche is a better fit and, with him, there was no room. They got good value back for him.

Hell, he's a free agent after this year. Maybe he returns. Baseball's an odd duck that way sometimes.

If the NL had the designated hitter, Morse would be in DC right now, but it doesn't, and the Nats made the move they had to make. And it was the correct one.

Rangers close out a 3-2 win over the Angels.

    Hamilton 0-for-4 with 2 strikeouts, batting a smooth .063.

This season series is going to be dee-lish.

Drew Smyly picked up the save for the Tigers against the Twins -- by throwing four perfect innings.

"You know, somebody came and shared with me. And I’ll share this with you, and I don’t care what y’all say about it or how y’all display it. I know what it means. He said, ‘Where was Jesus, you know, got after the most?’ He said, ‘His hometown.’ And this is one of those things where, obviously, baseball wise, this is my hometown."

Josh Hamilton. You must love him.

Phillies look great last night in a 2-0 2-hitter win over the Braves, then follow that up tonight by going up 4-0 on the Royals through 4 innings.

Then KC scored 13 runs to win 13-4.
