    As bad as it's been going, in the "I don't want it, you can have it" world that is the NL West, they're still only four out.

    Had all 18 innings of the longest regulation doubleheader in history on last night/this morning at the office.
    Lots of bad pitching, but man, I still love the game.

    In the wake of Trout and Harper we have another wave of elite young talent:

    * Machado has 37 doubles -- he homered in his first AB tonight. The record for doubles is 67 by Earl Webb in '31.

    * Puig, with 4 more hits today, is the first guy in 88 years with 44 hits in his first 100 ABs.

    More insane stats:

    Chris Davis is the first player ever with 30 HR and 25 doubles before July 1.

    And as I type that he hits No. 31.

    And he's hitting .333 ... well, a few points higher now.
