Someday a lot of those doubles are going to be homers. The kid is only 20. Baseball along 295 is pretty damn fun these days.

Yup. Pretty incredible what he's doing. I gotta plan my yearly trip to Camden Yards soon.

Cubs send Feldman to the Orioles for Arrieta and a bullpen arm.

He and Davis could be torturing pitchers for a long time. Davis is only 27. It's amazing to me how consistent he has been this season. Davis always tremendous power and streaks during which he looked like a beast, but he also had massive slumps that cost him regular playing time in Texas and held down his numbers somewhat even last season. I still think the batting average will come back to Earth a bit, but he has a very real shot at 60 home runs this season.

At least part of it has to be a matter of finally getting to play every day and settle in at one position.

After SO many years (1998 -2011) wandering in the wilderness, it's pretty amazing how the O's have turned things around.

Is Angelos still the owner? And is Showalter still the same meticulous taskmaster he was earlier in his career as a manager?

Cubs trade Marmol to Dodgers for Matt Guerrier and international bonus money.

Jose Valverde wants to get in on that meeting.

Damn, you'd think they could have gotten the rest of the body too.

Angelos is still the owner, but he's largely disappeared. And Showalter is still a hardass, but he's also lightened up considerably. They have a pool table and a ping pong table in the club house. I'm not sure he demands any less professionalism and effort, but he seems far more even keeled and even if they play a disastrous game, the next night out it's like it never happened. Buck seems to be enjoying the game more perhaps than he has in the past, while still taking it seriously, if that makes sense.

Arrieta and Strop both have electric arms and no consistency. In fact Strop was a dominant eighth inning reliever up until about August last year. High 90s fastball and ridiculous slider. But since then he's pretty much a bad version of Carlos Marmol, which Cubs fans will find impossible, I know. But trust me. It's mystifying what happened with him.

Arrieta may have just needed a change in scenery. We'll see.

Covered Feldman in junior college ball in the Bay Area (he was a stud back then). Good to see him still around.

Marmol, League, Valverde -- hey, don't forget J.J. Putz -- they're all soiling the linens these days.

I expect Fister to grab this one hard.

It's 6-6 after two innings. Wang pulled out early.
