They should make the Astros' rep play in the Triple-A All-Star Game.

The Giants just lost an RBI double by Posey because he batted out of order -- the official lineup card had Sandoval batting third but Posey went up there. Then Posey batted again in his rightful cleanup spot and hit an easy fly. So it's 0-0.

    Jesus Goddamn Christ.

How much worse can it get for the Giants? They just lost a run for batting out of order.

EDIT: LTL beat me to it.

That's freakin' insane. I can't recall ever seeing that at the major league level.

Who goofed? I've got to know.

    I'll withhold my laughter.

Now Giants fans will have something to cry about when the Dodgers win by one run.

They just showed Posey saying he was listed third everywhere -- clubhouse, dugout, everything.

I'm the scorekeeper for my son's 10U team and I almost never see it even there.

I never even knew what the punishment was for batting out of order.

Probably Bochy because he was dealing with All-Star rosters until about a half-hour ago.

It last happened in 2010, per Retrosheet: http://www.retrosheet.org/outturn.htm

    Also once in 2009, '08, '07, '05 ...

In-game boxes on Yahoo, ESPN and MLB had Posey third.

And MLB is still trying to fix/get caught up.

Thanks for the link, Buck. Good stuff.

Mattingly played it right. Didn't protest until after Posey's hit.

Recall a few years ago, Mattingly was filling in for Torre for a game vs. the Giants. He went to visit the mound, started walking back to the dugout, then turned around to go back to the mound. Bochy then protested to the umpire, saying that constituted two trips. Umpires concurred, and Dodgers had to pull the pitcher. Giants went on to win the game.

According to Righetti on the in-game interview, there was confusion between an electronic scoreboard in the clubhouse and the actual lineup.

Some fine fielding today by the Dodgers middle infielders.

Hanley Ramirez lets the ball go through his legs, then watches it roll away as Torres motors into second base. Tack on another unearned run for SF.
