    Through seven. Helped by defense, especially nice play by Sandoval over the bag. He'll need more plays like that to keep it going. ESPN2 is showing Padres' at-bats live.

    Carlos Quentin, the only Padre starter who hasn't struck out tonight, will bat second in the ninth.

    140+ pitches, that's nuts. How often does that happen anymore? This seems like a very short-sighted decision to have kept him in there after the 7th.
