I knew there was a reason I didn't go to bed early. Congratulations, Freak!

Isn't Timmy Tim a free agent at the end of the year?

If so, I feel bad for the shortsighted team that overpays for him.

Completely unrelated to anything of worth on this thread, but still related. There was an article today in my tiny little paper about this expensive piece of property in my sad little town that everyone had been fretting over. Said article mentioned that Jim Crane just might have purchased said property for the location of the Astros Triple A playing field. I'm guessing there are only two of you lovely folks here that will truly understand how happy I would be if one tiny part of one of my Houston teams played within 3 miles of where I live.

    That is all. Carry on.

That makes a lot of sense. And I know you'd become a frequent customer of the team.

    I wonder how Lincecum celebrated.

There is only a finite number of Triple-A teams, so somebody will have to be bought and moved. Tucson was last in the PCL in 2012 with less than 3,000 fans per game attendance on average. That's an ideal candidate. Oklahoma City can then become the Padres' Triple-A affiliate or swap affiliation with someone else closer to the West Coast.

A Double-A arrangement, like the highly successful one the Rangers have with their suburban Frisco team, would be harder to pull off because the Texas League only has eight teams. The Southern League has several teams struggling at the gate (and thus a target for acquisition by the Astros), but travel would become an issue. Maybe Crane can buy a SL franchise and engineer a league swap with another TL team. Or another owner could move his SL franchise to a market in the TL's footprint and make the TL a 10-team league.
