Mike Tyson received better advice from Don King than A-Rod is with his people.

Byrd's hit 17 homers and 56 RBI through the Mets' first 97 games. That's a pace of 28 and 94 for a 162-game season. 8 homers and 5 RBI more than his career high with a similar batting average. While the homers may seem a little high with his age and track record, the rest of his stats aren't anything to get all shocked about. And even with the homers, it's not like he's Brady Anderson.

If that's not comfortably in position to make an ordinary catch, nothing is.

Brent Lillibridge is the Yankees starting 3b, a career .206 hitter. That's how much the Yankees want ARoid back

So the Yankees are starting a guy who sucked so much the Cubs released him?

Justin Verlander's line today while pitching against the the pathetic, lifeless White Sox offense: 6 IP, 11 hits, 7 ER, 2 walks and only 4 strikeouts. For the season JV is now 10-8 with a 3.99 ERA and a WHIP of 1.41.

Is this year the start of the decline of his career or it an off season? With a contract where he's still to be paid a guaranteed $160 million over the next 6 seasons (with a vesting option of another $28 million for 2020), the Tigers better hope this season is an abnormality.

Settle down, Chicken Little. Until his last two starts his ERA was 3.50. He's sixth in the league in strikeouts.

So he won't win the Cy Young award. Tim Lincecum would kill for a down year like that.

After watching it a couple of times, to be fair, Laz Diaz does get caught in a bad position. Ramos is between him and the tag attempt. Read a few quotes from Davey Johnson, and he said the first base ump told him HE wasn't in position either (which seems right; he should be watching first base, and it's Diaz's call all the way).
    Still, though, that's pretty bad.

So apparently the Soriano-to-the-Yankees deal is all but done. Just announced on Cubs pregame that he's been scratched from the line-up tonight in advance of the deal becoming official shortly.
