He's been good again tonight. Too bad Hanley totally missed home plate on what should have been a sacrifice fly. Good play by the Reds catcher also to not give up and chase Hanley around.

First Blue Jay to homer twice in the same inning since Joe Carter in 1993.

    Weird story out of Cleveland.

Rangers reliever Tanner Scheppers showed up at the park on Friday with a black eye, cuts on his face and a headache. Manager Ron Washington first said Scheppers was available, then later said he was unavailable.

Today, the club said Scheppers was "sucker punched" on the street while he was going out to eat a few blocks from the team hotel Thursday night. They said Scheppers didn't file a police report because the police told him it was unlikely anyone would be arrested.

He will be available to pitch tonight, but they sure could've used him last night when the bullpen had to go eight innings. They will need Darvish to go at least seven tonight.

Ah, the old attacked-by-random-assailant story. He should have thrown in there that the assailant was black and 5-foot-10 just for good measure.

Will be fun when the actual story comes out. Drugs? Transvestite hooker? Rhabdomyolysis (TM Chad Gaudin)?

Well, they got six out of Darvish. Eleven K's, but he needed 123 pitches to do it. Also a leadoff homer that's the only run in a 1-0 game so far.

The Rangers are into Cleveland's pen now, so let's see if they can snap out of it in the eighth inning. They fall asleep every time Yu or Holland pitches.

Cleveland beats Texas 1-0, the only run scoring on a leadoff homer by Michael Bourn. It's the second time this year a leadoff homer was the game's only run, but before that you have to go back 50 years, according to Elias.

Excellent game to watch. Has Darvrish always pitched strictly out of the stretch as he did tonight? Two fine pitchers in him and Masterson.

Tigers-Phillies turned into a spring training game today thanks to Lee's injury and the truly amazing start by Raul Valdes. He came out throwing 85-mph fastballs, 75-mph changeups and nothing else. He actually got the first two guys out, then threw three straight 87-mph fastballs - he was really reaching back - to Miguel Cabrera. Cabrera watched the first two and, on his first swing since Monday, absolutely crushed the third one over the bullpens in left. Three straight singles, and then power-hitting legend Matt Tuiasosopo hits a "changeup" 440 feet into the shrubs in center.

It was 8-0 after two, Leyland only played Cabrera four innings and pulled Max Scherzer and Prince Fielder after six. Charlie Manuel made six defensive changes in one inning and ended up using three pitchers with numbers 63, 66 and 79. The Phillies aren't even going through the motions well at this point.
