It was originally reported as a guaranteed major-league deal. This makes more sense.

By the way, if you want to laugh, do a Twitter search for "Brian Wilson #Trader."

Hold on -- now I see the LA Times says it is a guaranteed major league deal but includes a minor league rehab assignment. But ESPN says it's a minor league deal. Yahoo's Tim Brown, who broke the story, doesn't use those specific terms but gives the indication that it's pre-planned to be a couple of rehab appearances and then off to the big club.

That would be a pretty desperate move if it's a guaranteed deal.

Didn't Cano's name come up briefly in all of this?

Interesting that Colon won't get suspended. That means his incredible season doesn't get cut short. Will be interesting to see how he finishes up.

Not sure what's more depressing -- that Barry Zito got through the first inning against the Phillies on a nice, tidy 44 pitches, or that he only gave up two runs doing it.

The whole season has been depressing. But I can't expect the Giants to win the World Series every year. It has been a great run.

Detroit 5, Washington 1 in a game time of 2:23. Strasburg starting for the Nats, and, apparently, Mickey Lolich for the Tigers.

Then again, if it were Lolich, that 2:23 would include 25 minutes of donut delays.

Looks like a 3-way deal to send Jake Peavy to the Red Sox, Jose Iglesias to the Tigers & Avisail Garcia to the White Sox is all but done.
