Their run wasn't all that long? Five playoff years in a row and two WS appearances (one championship) doesn't cut it for you?

Sure, you have your Yankees and Braves, but other than that I'd be surprised if anyone has done five years in a row in the wild-card era.

http://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/TBD/ - six year run and loaded for a lot more.

http://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/STL/ - One losing season in the last 14 and loaded for more.

http://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/SFG/ - Not sticking a 2014 fork in them yet.

Actually, their entire bullpen is pretty damn good. I don't have the exact numbers in front of me, but they've given up something like three or four runs total during this 13-game winning streak.

Jordan Walden could close for a lot of teams. Luis Avilan and Scott Downs have been more than adequate replacements for Jonny Venters and Eric O'Flaherty. David Carpenter was claimed off waivers from the Red Sox — who acquired him from Toronto in the trade for their manager — and is pitching like the 2011 version of Tyler Clippard.

What Atlanta has done with its bullpen this year is more proof that you should NEVER give a multi-year deal to a free agent middle reliever. There are 10 guys in Triple-A right now who could be effective for one inning at a time three times a week.

What is it, five years on and they're still tagged with "TBD" in the URL? The Devil Rays aren't dead yet. :)

Six year run of what? Not playoff appearances.

None of these three teams made the playoffs five years in a row.

Thanks, YF. I was going to point that out, but since it was Devil I am happy to give you the honors.

It's what happens when a team makes a lot of mediocre or bad decisions during their run of winning. Any Phillies fans want to argue with me about Ryan Howard's contract again?

You can't predict an Achillies snapping.

No, but you CAN predict that a husky slugger who strikes out a ton, doesn't hit lefties and can't field won't age well.

Didn't he lose a shit-ton of weight and get into great all-around shape before the start of the season in which he snapped the Achillies?

    Unless I'm misremembering.

Matt Kemp's terminally ill friend died at 19.

That's right, complete non-production due to injury is absolutely predictable. That's why the Red Sox were morons to keep signing Ortiz. All those slow left-handed power hitters are worthless.
Just walk a few steps in Ruben Amaro Jr's Guccis. Go explain to Phillies fans that the stats project you should dump the team's biggest star. Then try to replace him. Go back and play video baseball and see how it comes out. Do they have attendance stats in video baseball?
