This is your original post. A 5 year run of playoffs with a ring and another WS appearance is a long run, that is all people are saying.

No. They said only the Braves and Yankees had better runs.

Some pretty fascinating numbers on the Braves' win streak, chief among them, in my mind anyway, the fact that the bullpen ERA over that span is an absurd 0.48.

Thanks for the numbers. I referred to this a few pages back but didn't have the stats. The Braves' bullpen has been incredible, and it's about more than just Kimbrel.

Isn't Porter still under contract in Houston next year?

Not sure, but my guess is that MLB managerial contracts are about like college football coaching contracts. There's a buyout clause and if another team really wants him, they can get him.

Well, unless Houston doesn't want to let him go.

Rangers acquire Alex Rios from White Sox for PTBNL, reportedly infielder Leury Garcia.

If you want to talk about consecutive seasons in the playoffs during the wild card era, here's your list:

    Yankees — 13, 1995-2007, 6 WS, 4 championships
    Braves — 11, 1995-2005, 3 WS, 1 championship
    Indians — 5, 1995-1999, 2 WS
    Phillies — 5, 2007-11, 2 WS, 1 championship
    A's — 4, 2000-2003

Teams with current postseason streaks are the Yankees (4), Rangers (3), Cardinals and Tigers (2), and A's, Braves, Giants, Nationals, Orioles and Reds (1). In case you forgot.

So in other words the Phillies run is a long one.

In other words, yes, arguably the third most-impressive run over the last 17 seasons, and certainly in the top five.
