Yep, the only outcome to rule there is that the runner gave himself up voluntarily.

It is kind of interesting, though -- you would think the answer would be make sure guys go back and touch. But a lot of times they're acting like they touched it to try to get the safe call when they might never have gotten there, and going back and re-touching will only bring attention to that on the live call.

I'm becoming more convinced that this will hurt the game more than help it. Nomar was saying today that it will delay things throughout because managers will signal pitchers/hitters to take forever before the next pitch so they can see the broadcast replay and decide whether they want to challenge.

But if the runner is called out he has no reason to try retouch. His action is predicated on a call that was incorrect to begin with.

And the flip side of that argument would be, the catcher has no reason to attempt to tag the runner once he's been called out. If the runner does retouch on his way back to the dugout, the defensive team has the same beef. The action is predicated on a call that was incorrect to begin with.

So what prompted the Sox to decide to hit ARod (other than him being just who he is) did something happen during the previous two games I missed?

Ryan Dempster exercising playground justice, basically.

The roar from the crowd when they finally got him was pretty damn priceless.

The fact that CC hasn't retaliated yet is speaking volumes. Schilling is basically telling Sabathia to hit Ortiz in the 5th and he doesn't.

Hey, CC's pitching for the win. He can't let a strong effort like this go to waste.

Well the Yankees have a double-header on Tuesday, so that might be a factor as well.

Do one of the bullpen goons step up and take one for the team?

I can't believe Sabathia is back out there.

Been a while since I've seen a team let a starter continue to go deep into games despite giving up so many runs time and again.

CC is pretty much done. Oh, he can hum it still and he's an innings-eater but he's lost that swagger.

Does this mean no Sabathia for Hall of Fame thread?

    C'mon, man.
