I was just trolling. I found it pretty laughable that he would cite that, too.

It's because everybody knows Byrd is on steroids.

Rumours around Toronto that the Jays are interested in bringing Morneau in too.

I'd like to see Morneau go to another team for a run. Good man, and it ain't gonna happen in MN for a while.

My point was that McGwire was a premier power hitter from Year One. He wasn't a Brady Anderson type. Geez. Guess I had to spell it out. L-O-N-G-T-E-R-M, S-U-S-T-A-I-N-E-D P-O-W-E-R.

We interrupt this PED/Hall of Fame screechfest to announce that one-time SportsJournalists.com Cy Young candidate Jeff Locke has been optioned to Double-A:

(I realize it's just a bit of creative roster accounting, but Locke has really fallen off lately. His ERA has risen a full run since the All-Star break, from 2.15 to 3.22).

    Dick, you're impossible. "49 ain't 70"? Really, Hoss? Really?

Roger Maris hit a combined 33 homers in his first two seasons. 14+19 ain't 61.
Babe Ruth his 29 home runs in his first full season as an offensive player. 29 ain't 60.
Hank Aaron hit just 13 homers in his rookie season (122 games), but had a career high 47 homers in 1971 (17 years later). 13 ain't 47.

No, some people think he is. Very few people know one way or another. :)

The fact that power hitters' numbers tend to escalate as their careers progress. Not exactly rocket science and no agenda. Just a few statements that Joe Friday would be proud of.

Mattingly yanks Puig from game in fifth inning. Puig says it was because he wasn't ready on every pitch.

That guy is a riot. "Man-child" in every way.
