Twins trade Justin Morneau to the Pirates. He's one of my favorite players, so mixed feelings. Glad to see him go to a contender, but sure hate to see him not be on the Twins any more. Good luck, Justin.

    Buccos aren't messing around anymore.

Have to give the Pirates credit. They are doing exactly what they should do in this situation, making short-term acquisitions to give themselves the best possible chance to win now. That lineup has needed help all year and Byrd and Morneau should give them a boost.

Dodgers have acquired All-American out-maker and certified manager killer Michael Young from the Phillies.

Greinke improved to 14-3 and then Dodger Stadium let fans onto the outfield to watch The Sandlot for its 20th anniversary.

They did the same thing at Arlington on May 11-12.

Why is he wearing Dangerous Danny Davis' wrestling tights?

    He is indeed.

And this was a really good point, cj. Wieters' defense was pretty much a given (harsh, but it was coming up). I just don't see how the guy has landed on all-star teams and kept a pretty solid spot in the middle of the order -- well, No. 6 lately.

.227/.282/.409. Don't know how much more you can say.

Daisuke Matsuzaka allowed six runs on seven hits in three innings today in Atlanta, lifting his ERA to 10.95. Is there any reason for this guy to be on a major-league roster at this point?

Because somebody's got to pitch the innings in the meaningless September games. Mets also signed Aaron Harang, with ESPN reporting they're going to shut Wheeler down soon.
