"First ballot Hall of Famer" is still a thing?

I thought the last vote ended any pretense of that designation mattering.

I was going to say no very quickly, but 2,500 hits and his career path looks normal (no 1.100 OPS at 38).

He has a .931 career OPS, but I was surprised that he has never won a Gold Glove.

I'm sort of leaning towards in.

I don't care if he's a first ballot guy or not, be he certainly belongs in the Hall.

    Wearing an Expos cap.

PEDs? So hard to know anymore.

    This. All of this.

And I thought the last ballot (and the Roberto Alomar vote) made it very clear that "first-ballot" does matter, whether we think it does or not. If Biggio gets in next year, I think that validates it a little more. The trend is clearly heading in the wrong direction ...

A's put the hurt on Yu Darvish again -- 5 IP, 5 ER, two homers and six walks.

In six career starts against them, he is 1-5 with a 4.86 ERA.

If we're talking Montreal Hall of Famers, why in the world is Tim Raines still waiting for the the call?

And yes, while Torii Hunter kills the A's -- I think he serves on Bud Selig's Blue Ribbon Panel in the off-season - the A's in turn own Yu Turvish. They're due to face him next weekend in Arlington, unless Washington skips him in the rotation.

He'd be skipped to avoid Oakland? or is he a little banged up?

Why would you go and make it incorrect? The second dashes don't need to be there unless the IP/ER needs to be set off, which it doesn't. The comma is correct.

I know you're smarting from that ass-kicking on the schools thread, but let's keep that there and leave this for baseball.

You looking like a moron by making an assumption does not equal an ass-kicking. If you want to make corrections here, it's five innings pitched and five earned runs.

    Hmmm ... let's move on.
