Actually, he was hit on the hand on a pitch that was called a foul ball. Then on the next pitch, he was beaned on the shoulder for a HBP.

(I'll note here that Morse chose not to charge the mound).

Also, that's two injured outfielders in two days for the Mariners. Michael Saunders was put on the DL after hurting his shoulder colliding with the wall the previous game.

Clearing snow at Target Field. Welcome, Mets!

The Twins said they are undaunted by the prospect of playing in freezing weather and light snow Friday night and will dodge their first snow-out since moving to the roofless stadium in 2010.

In a situation like last night's, Greinke has to realize he's built like a women's volleyball player. Standing his ground was never going to end well, especially leading with his shoulder.

He should have just said sorry, ran behind second base and let his teammates handle it.

That is professionalism at its best. Scully was objective; wonder how Hawk Harrelson would have called it?

I shudder at the thought of overlaying Buck/McCarver on this.

Quentin is just lame, he got hit in the arm, not really even near the head.

If a pitcher really wants to send a message to a charger? Uppercut, guy is wide open to that.

Greinke shouldn't have given Quentin a glare, though. If he just yells out, "My bad!" none of this happens.

Bullshit. Quentin admitted he had a score to settle, he was gonna charge no matter what.

I know weather can hit at any time, and constant interleague play doesn't help, but I'm wondering if there's ways to avoid situations like this, with the Mets making their only trip this early in the season. Could be some potential scheduling headaches.

What are you going to do, send every Northern team on the road for the entire month of April? There are at least a dozen teams that play outdoors and could get nailed by a snowstorm in April. When the Rockies were playing in SF last weekend, they showed Coors Field blanketed in snow too.

I was thinking more along the lines of a division-heavy schedule. That way its a matter of makeup doubleheaders the next trip through.

Doubleheaders are the last choice -- nobody wants them, not the teams or the front offices or the TV folks or even the fans.

It does seem like they have done away with the old early-season scheduling practice of putting a day off between games of a series, which I always thought was just such a contingency for this situation.
