I can definitely see it as a price thing with the Indians.

Four years ago the walk-up ticket I bought in the upper deck even with third base was 10.00. Now the same seat is 28.

How much of a factor is dynamic pricing? The same seat that's $20 when the Blue Jays or Royals are in town is, say, $40 for the Red Sox or Yankees?

Bought two 300-level tickets this morning for Pirates Home Game No. 1 of the NLDS.

(Wait, making sure this is reality.)

Yeah, so they were $27 each, plus a cool $7.25 convenience charge each. Still, completely worth it, so long as they don't forge ahead with Epic Collapse III and find a way to win the Wild Card game (or maybe even the division). After losing twice in a row to the Padres, no doubt the 20 years of losing has allowed negative thoughts to creep in.

More from Cleveland -- civic leaders have started an "Our Town, Our Tribe" campaign to get 10,000 more people to attend the game.

I guess the damn team can't be expected to do that.

When the Rangers made that first run in 2010, apparently there weren't so many people with priority, so I was drawn via the random drawing in all three rounds. I got the email that I'd been drawn for the Series while I was teaching a class ... class was put on hold while yours truly made his purchase.

I also remember that after they'd finished off the Yankees, that next morning I was at the Ballpark to pick up my Series tickets. I couldn't stop laughing ... as they say in my home town, I was "grinnin' like a mule eatin' briars." Great, great fun, and ultimately a fabulous family memory (I went into serious hock (for me) so the whole family could go). Hope you have just as much fun as we did.

Multiply that $27 by about 5, and that'd be the price of a Yankees playoff ticket in that part of the ballpark against any non-Boston opponent. If it was the Red Sox, multiply it by 10.

    You're getting a great deal.

Guy waiting in line for a hoagie at Marlins Park catches Stanton's homer.

Regarding the Indians: Are they somehow keeping these seats off StubHub?

I checked the other tickets I had from 2009, for the same seat:

    Reds: Then 14, Now 17
    Cubs: Then 36, Now 43
    Twins: Then 10, Now 9
    Cardinals: Then 25, Now 20

Pirates lose a tough one. Melancon is an out away from saving a 2-1 win when, 9/10ths into a pitch, the ump calls time at the batter's request. Total bullshit move and it completely threw Melancon out of his rhythm. Padres not only string together a few hits to tie it but score another run then hold off the Buccos in bottom-9 for the 3-2 win.

Rays were just down to their final strike but the Rangers choked, yet again, so it's tied.

Dodgers-D'backs, 6th inning, Michael Young on first and one out. Adrian Gonzalez doubles to the gap in left-center. For some reason, the third base umpire is running into the outfield, so the home-plate umpire runs to third (where there will be no play). That means Jim Joyce runs some 100 feet from his position at first to cover the call at home ... and blow the call, calling Young out despite the tag being up the arm after Young had already touched the plate.

Then, adding to the fuck-up, the second-base umpire tosses Gonzalez for something he said about the whole deal.

It's a fantastic deal. I'd have paid twice that to get in. I just hope I have a chance to use them. Can't fathom what it would be like to be there for the first real playoff game in that park.
