    I'm fine with it. :)

I do wonder how come this always happens to the Braves, though. Just random, I guess.

It's OK to throw at a guy, but heaven forbid he shows you up by blasting one into the bleachers.

The problem people had is that Gomez flapped his gums all 360 degrees. I don't think I've ever seen someone become *that* bombastic after a homer. I enjoyed it but he had to have known a dump truck of shit would be waiting for him at home

Now, you go through all that trouble to show your Home Run Machismo, you finish the job and run straight through McCann to touch home plate -- and *then* the fisticuffs can begin.

Gomez was obviously way out of line, but McCann shouldn't have come 10 feet down the line to challenge him. He did the same thing to Jose Fernandez.

The Braves, who are still trying to get home field advantage in the playoffs, were the only ones with anything to lose in that situation (and ended up getting their best player tossed after the melee). And McCann should have known that.

McCann coming that far up the line, to me, is the real issue here.

not for nuthin' but robinson cano's numbers this season are startling when you consider the drek he had hitting in front and behind him for most of the season -- he had nothing close to 'protection' until soriano came aboard in august, which explains his career high in walks. he's close to career highs in almost every category, lagging markedly behind in two categories which primarily reflect the calibre of those hitting behind you -- runs (80, when he's routinely scored 100-plus in recent years) and homers (27, his lowest since '09). but .315 ba, career-high obp (.384), .519 slugging are more than up to par, while maintaining gold glove-calibre defensive play...

i know some people are turned off by cano's penchant for 'styling' and hate on playing the role of the anti-pedroia (another extraordinary second baseman), who feels like he's stealing money if his uniform isn't covered with dirt by game's end) and that certainly annoys me, too, but his critics pick at his 'joe cool' persona a bit too much, if you ask me.

would i prefer cano would bust butt out of the batter's box and on the bases like pedroia, jeter and other stars do? you bet. but his gorgeous swing and extraordinary batting prowess produce far more than cano's lackadaisical style costs him in run production.

    imho, anyway.

    Love Cano.

Had a problem with Pedroia last year but I think it was just the result of a leaderless cuckoo's nest. He was really angry last year and always seemed to be dropping F-bombs and arguing balls and strikes WAY too much. Little things that made him unlikeable.

It's different this season. Is it the winning? Maybe. Is it that Farrell changed the entire culture? I don't know. But I've watched 25-30-35 Sox games this season and his behavior has been exemplary. Been a nice change.

Who would I rather have starting second base? It's like asking "Do you want a million bucks or $999,500?" The answer is Yes.

One of the best things they did was not trade him away when Santana and others were on the market. He can flat out hit, and he has a couple GG if you agree with him being a GGer.

Worst of all, Reed Johnson is such a bald little bitch.

Gomez looks to be all kinds of crazy.

His eyes were wild. Wouldn't be surprised to see him in a Melky-type scenario before long. Melky had a similar 'roid raging situation in Atlanta in about June 2012, then got suspended for steroids a couple of months later.
