It's so rare, that's what makes it memorable. But when was the last one before that? But a) gotta head to work in a bit; and b) don't want to put in that much work on a doodah post.

Well, Ezekiel and Jebediah are pretty insistent about staying.

The Braves may go on and win this game 100-2 but I want to throw this out there now: Bryce Harper is really fucking good.

excuse my ignorance. Was Quentin called 'out' after charging the mound? Not as in ejected, but as in running outside the baselines. Does his charging the mound forfeit the free base?

No he wasn't nor should he have been called "out". When there is a HBP, the play is over. The ball is 'dead' until the umpire gives the indication to the pitcher on the mound that 'play is back live'.

Clayton Kershaw, he of the 16.0 IP, 0 ER, 1 BB, 6 H, 16 K's, is on the hill again tonight. Hopefully this game is on some channel somewhere here.

Thanks. Didn't know the rule, maybe it should be an out if the batter doesn't take the base, as long as time hasn't been called.

I just knew A-Rod was the player involved when I saw this story late last night:

Quentin suspended 8 games, per Yahoo via guys announcing Braves-Nats on MLB. (no link yet)

No player in MLB history gets more ink for not actually playing in a game than this fuckin' guy.

Detwiler gave the Nats 7 pretty innings.

    Then the bullpen.
