Pedro Alvarez just his his fourth homer in the last week. Seems to finally be somewhat selective in his approach. Good sign if he wants to become the player many think he can be.

It's an old (not really, but sort of by Internet standards) saying:

There Is No Such Thing As A Pitching Prospect.

Not literally true, but it feels like it because no matter how exciting and talented a guy is, he's always one pitch away from a spiraling series of arm injuries.

Elite hitting prospects are almost a sure thing. Elite pitching prospects are a 50/50 shot at best, because half of them have their arms fall off.

Excellent, thanks. I'm like "this thread is, no, can't be it. You Gotta Be, no that's a poster."

    Yeah. Them arms, they's fragile.

It's an old Baseball Prospectus mantra, coined by founder Gary Huckabay.

Aside from the home run prediction, that is a point well made. LaRoche has never hit 35 home runs in a season and he has only been over 30 twice, but this is what LaRoche does. As you said, last April was the exception, which is probably why he had a career year. No shitty April to drag his numbers down.

I'm trying to remember what Ruckus predicted. That letting Morse go and keeping LaRoche would turn out to be a mistake? It's possible, but Morse is already hurt (again) and writing off LaRoche after a slow start simply shows a lack of knowledge about the guy.

The Nats have scored 9 runs in Strasburg's 5 starts; just 7 in "his" 4 losses.

    That guy sucks. Cut him.

The Cubs should cut Samardzija, too.

    1-4.

Great work by an Opening Day starter, huh?
